While it is the legislative mandate of the Township Council to make the final decision on all matters that affect the Township, the role of an advisory committee is to provide recommendations, advice and information to Council on those specialized matters which relate to the purpose of the advisory committee, to facilitate public input to Council on programs and ideas and to assist in enhancing the quality of life of the community.

The Township of Wainfleet has a number of advisory committees:

  • Fire Master Plan Implementation Committee
  • Recreation Master Plan Implementation Committee
  • Drainage Advisory Committee
  • Community Safety Advisory Committee
  • Youth Advisory Committee

Township of Council has delegated authority for certain aspects of municipal decision making to the following committees:

  • Committee of Adjustment
  • Property Standards Committee
  • Fence Viewer’s Committee

Occasionally a number of citizen appointments to these Committees become vacant. These vacancies are filled by Township Council. If you are interested in serving on one of these Committees, watch for newspaper advertising and check the volunteer opportunities section of the website or contact the Clerk’s Department.
