Amendments made to the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 will affect the timing and process of the 2018 Municipal Election to be held October 22, 2018.

NEWS:  July 27, 2018 - The Province of Ontario has announced its intention to enact the Better Local Government Act, 2018, which will affect the conduct of Municipal Elections in Niagara Region.  Read more about the proposed legislation here.

Nominations Open May 1, 2018

Nomination packages for Mayor and Alderman are being accepted at the Township of Wainfleet Municipal Office during regular business hours from 8:30am on May 1, 2018 through 2:00pm on July 27, 2018. Third Party Advertisers may also register during this period.  To schedule an appointment with the Clerk, please call 905-899-3463 Ext. 224.

Are you on the voters list?

Ontario’s municipal and school board elections take place on October 22, 2018. If you are a resident, owner or tenant of property in Ontario, a Canadian citizen and 18 years of age you can vote in Ontario’s municipal and school board elections.

Residents can check out to confirm if they're registered to vote in the 2018 Municipal and School Board Election.

The Niagara Compliance Audit Committee was established to deal with request for an audit on the campaigns of Election Candidates.

The Clerk’s Department are pleased to assist with any questions that you may have concerning the Municipal Election. If you have comments or concerns regarding the election process, forms, method of voting, polling locations, voters’ list or other matters pertaining to the Municipal Election, please contact us. Further, we welcome feedback to identify areas where changes need to be considered; and ways in which the Township can improve the delivery of an accessible election.
