Coronavirus Update

Wainfleet Council Approves Tax Relief Measures

(Read in full for information on available payment options.)

In an emergency virtual meeting last night, Wainfleet Council has approved relief for taxpayers affected by the Coronavirus pandemic.

Specifically, t
he Township of Wainfleet Council has approved that penalty and interest on current amounts owing (for the 2020 taxation year), will be waived until June 30, 2020,  to provide relief for taxpayers who may have been financially impacted by the COVID-19 Pandemic.

The second instalment for Interim Tax Bills is due April 30th and we respectfully ask all residents that are able to pay, to please do so by the due date. Residents who cannot pay by April 30, however, should know that late payment charges will not be applied until July 1st.  Township Council and staff are diligently monitoring the situation and will be reassessing as this pandemic evolves.

Postdated cheques, and preauthorized instalment plan payments will proceed as scheduled on April 30th.

Please note that the Monthly Preauthorized Payment Plan remains unchanged and scheduled payments will be withdrawn on the 15th of each month (April – November).

If this presents a problem for residents, they are encouraged to please contact the Township offices to discuss their situation and explore their options.  Staff will do what they can to assist.

While the Township office remains closed, staff continue to provide services online or by phone, including supporting residents about payment options, and other inquiries.

Payment options:

  1. Online/Telephone banking (be sure to use the 19-digit roll number as your account number, do not use dots or dashes please)
  2. Cheque – by mail, or drop box located at the front of Town hall
  3. Payment at your financial institution – Meridian Credit Union (Wainfleet Branch) will assist you by phone at 905-899-3951 if you do not already use online or telephone banking.  Please have your roll number.
